ADLIB is short for „ad libitum“ which means „as you desire“ in latin. As always, the name fits perfectly because I chose to shake things up a bit for this track: Instead of a conventional house setting with intro, build-up, chorus, intermezzo and one more chorus / build-up / outro combination, I put in a melody change right after the intermezzo, resulting in an interesting gain in variance. The working title for this project was „Rotterdam Skyline“, because I initially got inspired by looking at pictures of Rotterdam’s cool skyscrapers. ADLIB marks an important turning point in my musical development and thus I chose to capitalize the song name, making it stand out even more among my discography. The song also symbolizes my own desire to stand out from the crowd, to be bold and confident and to inspire others on their journey of finding their true identities. After all, each and every one of us has to take this journey, so why not take a friend with you along the way?
ADLIB ist die Abkürzung für „ad libitum“, was im Lateinischen „wie Sie es wünschen“ bedeutet. Der Name passt wie immer perfekt, weil ich mich für diesen Track entschieden habe, die Dinge etwas aufzumischen: Statt eines herkömmlichen House-Settings mit Intro, Aufbau, Chorus, Intermezzo und einer weiteren Chorus / Aufbau / Outro-Kombination setze ich in einem Melodiewechsel direkt nach dem Intermezzo, was zu einem interessanten Varianzgewinn führt. Der Arbeitstitel für dieses Projekt war „Rotterdam Skyline“, weil ich mich zunächst von Bildern von Rotterdams coolen Wolkenkratzern inspirieren ließ. ADLIB markiert einen wichtigen Wendepunkt in meiner musikalischen Entwicklung und deshalb habe ich mich entschieden, den Songnamen groß zu schreiben, um ihn noch mehr in meiner Diskographie hervorzuheben. Der Song symbolisiert auch meinen eigenen Wunsch, mich von der Masse abzuheben, mutig und selbstbewusst zu sein und andere auf ihrer Reise zu ihrer wahren Identität zu inspirieren. Schließlich muss jeder von uns diese Reise machen, warum also nicht einen Freund mitnehmen?
